Today, we have talked about apps. I found a great app in the itunes store called BrainPop! My past teachers have used this app in many ways. BrainPop has MANY different subjects, with plenty of introduction information. I love this app, and can use it in my class in many ways.

Hoaxes and Podcasting.
In the beginning of the class, we were given various websites. I had one that was about Martin Luther King. It was a very scary website! This site was organized by a white pride group, and they were saying terrible things about Martin Luther King. None of the information on this site was historically correct. This website is so scary to me because it is one of the first websites that pop up when you Google Martin Luther King. If I was a teacher and asked my students to research Martin Luther King, and they went to this website, they would have a terrible view on him.
Afterwards, we dove into Podcasting. Our assignment is to create a short Podcast. Podcasts can be a great tool to use in the classroom, and they have many different topics.

Today we had a guest speaker. He came in from a charter school along the coast of Oregon. He gave us tons of ideas and many different websites that we could possibly use in our classes. From Storybird to Prezi, the websites can be super useful in the classroom everyday. He was very helpful! Storybird is the cutest thing, and it can be very fun for students.

This week we used Google maps. We figured out how to make a tour of many different places. I decided that I would base mine around all my favorite places in Portland, Oregon. This could easily be used in the classroom. As a teacher, I could maybe do a geography lesson, and physically show my students where these places are on the map. Along with that, I love that you can put in your own photos to go along with each site.
